No Pissy Ici

BONUS: For Street Photography Fans!

An ingenious casse-pipi, or pisse pâle, that is to say an anti-pissing device, here in a tempting corner of a building in the 6th or 7th, I can't remember which.

What this one does, unlike the majority of the others, which generally comprise a sloping concrete lump, designed to prevent you from getting too close in but where you can piss nevertheless, is bounce the pee right back at ya - brilliant!

There are lots of these in the city but they are not often recognised by the casual bypasser for what they actually are.

Now that we have a reasonable number of public toilets and of course bars and McDonalds they are perhaps less needed but they play a role nonetheless. They also hark back to another time, and give us a glimpse into the worries of the ages. An eternal problem, as long as men have bladders and drinks are aplenty...

And why not...
